Joseph “Jo Mersa” Marley has passed away. Jo Mersa was the son of Stephen Marley and the grandson of the great Bob Marley. A true talent, Jo Mersa forged his own path and developed his own style and sound. I saw him live several times and even met him once at a Stephen Marley show in Baltimore. He was a force to reckon with on stage and always put on a good show for the fans.
I thought his translation of Bob Marley’s “I’m Hurting Inside” was brilliant. It brings a smile to my face every time I hear it.
