LEGENDARY REGGAE, formerly MIDNIGHT RAVER, is a website dedicated solely to the promotion and preservation of roots reggae, culture and dub. Contributors include authors and journalists, historians, record producers, broadcasters, lecturers, archivists, collectors and publishers.

yes also the Rainbow ’77 shows have been filmed. Some of this footage is included in the new documentary. I have confirmed though that the Marley estate will be releasing no new material in 2012-2013. This stuff WILL see light eventually.
That is real good news, but it’s time also…tto long we as fans had too wait on new things from Bob Marley & the Wailers from who i hear for the first time in late 1975……No Woman no cry was the hit at the club in my town in Holland, and since that day i feld for the music and the message.
Now almost everyday looking on the web for new things.
I knew about the filming at the Lyceum because in had found a book at school with an review of the concert’s and they wrote that there was also a team from the television……and now almost 20 later i have the confirm.
I hope it will be in the theatre in the Netherlands.

Love the site.I began buying “bootlegs” in the early 90’s for 50-100 bucks a cd.They were all import cd’s. I was young,no kids,in love with reggae.I spent everything on “her”.Burning Spear,Steel Pulse,
Israel Vibrations,Ziggy,Toots,The Melodians, & others used to come to New Orleans pretty regularly.Tipatina’s would be jam packed,herb everywhere,people having a good time.But I was born too late for Bob.I have an older cousin who saw him here at the Warehouse.He said they wet the carpet in the building during the show so that the smokers wouldn’t start a fire.I remember him crying when Bob died.Anyway,I’m glad this music is surfacing.With the message of peace,love & positivity, I’ve always wondered why this music gets no radio play.No concerts on BET or VH1.They force us underground.Oh well.Keep doing what you’re doing and I’ll keep supporting. I left a comment about a couple of FLACs that I could not download, “The Wailers Rehearsal at Capitol Studios” or “Into The Matrix” and “Live at The Beacon Theatre in 1976”. Then, not expecting much to happen, I clicked the download link for the “Wailers Playing the Matrix, October 30, 1973” — actually my first night ever in San Francisco (as I drove around the US having just arrived from the UK where Bob Marley had barely penetrated my consciousness just several weeks earlier), but little did I know! and I missed the show — anyway, bingo! down (or upful) the music came. I think the problem is that in the link after the “.com/” it says “download/” instead of “direct/”. There ought to be a Rasta version of html, all these “downs” need to be replaced!!!

You seem to be violating your own rules with those KAZO downloads, especially the non-Marley ones are filled with tracks legally available via a variety of labels, many of which are small and struggle to survive.
I struggle with this and I appreciate your point. I am considering removing all a/b sides. However, there is a compelling argument that sharing these recordings in no way harms the artist or studio. I quote Kazo’s disclaimer: “A vinyl collector is first directed to … collect vinyl. When he buys a vinyl, he buys an object with a strong historical and sentimental content. There is the black disc, the artwork, the cover. It’s an object. He has got what he paid for. He has collected and he should be happy. What I’m doing is to circulate some binary data only. This data bears the music but it is the same than when I’m publishing a photograph of a museum art piece. You get the photo, you don’t get the piece. But, with the photo, you know what the piece is about, you see it. That is culture. With the music, it’s the same. You get the file, you can listen to the music but you don’t have the record. It is culture as well. Culture should be free.”
You also must consider that many, if not most, of these vinyl selections are no longer pressed. Many of the labels existed for only a short period of time 30 years ago. These records are now usually sold from collector to collector. I don’t see how this has a detrimental effect on the artist/label.
I understand your point, and I can identify with it. Like I said, I am considering removing, not for copyright reasons, but because I’m running out of space and I think the Marley BV is more appropriate to focus on.
When do you start considering promotion of music? I encourage people to share especially reggae because it doesn’t get radio time. I know Bob Marley cared more for his message than for personal gain!
I too consider what I do here the promotion of these artists. The ones I have had the pleasure of speaking with love what I do and have no problem with very rare items being shared. I mean, I would never share the Lee Perry box set, but I will share a track or two just to turn readers on to his music.

While trying to figure out the lyrics for the Wailers song Jailhouse, I came across an expression: “dem peego a go lingua”.
I’ve searched for it in patois dictionaries and found nothing. I’m assuming “peego” means “people”, but the “lingua” part has me stumped.
I was wondering if you know what it means.
