GET WISE is an excellent compilation of Horace Andy material from the early seventies. Produced by Phil Pratt and only ever previously released in Jamaica. 16 tracks on the CD and 14 on the single vinyl. Horace Andy’s soulful distinctive vocals float over driving rhythms. Pratt’s own talents as a singer meant he could supply the harmonies as well as the production. Horace Andy was arguably at his peak during this period. Fresh from his brilliant work at Studio One ‘Get Wise’ has a mixture of love songs and conscious material. Comes with a free postcard when you buy direct from Pressure Sounds. A joy from start to finish.
Pressure Sounds should be commended for bringing forward rare, unreleased, and vintage vinyl tunes for a new generation to enjoy. Their previous release, a compilation of unreleased Lee Scratch Perry dubplates, is nothing short of flawless and they do not disappoint with this follow-up.
