I recently attended C-BAKERS Humboldt’s Something for Everyone Thanksgiving Showcase 11-29-2014 featuring Jah Sun, Jah 9, Dynasty One, Rob Symeone, Sambamore, and DJ Noble Tobal.
I arrived in time to check Rob Symeonn who did a wicked set of conscious roots songs. Rob’s voice often reminding me of Jacob Miller. So nice to see him live and direct. DJ Noble Tobal spun some wicked new and old selections between sets. Then Dynasty One, a group from Humboldt, got the place rocking with their blend of Hip-Hop, Rock, Reggae, and R & B. I really enjoyed the mixed styles and their wicked guitar player. After Dynasty One, Jah Sun blessed the stage. Strictly Rockers with a dancehall vibe. Jah Sun, a Humboldt based artist who has done tracks with Chronixx, Alborosie and Kabaka Pyramid got the people singing along with him. During his set Jah 9 came on doing a few songs. Having seen Jah 9 for the first time a few weeks earlier at the Mateel, I was really excited to see her perform again. Backed by the IKronick band she niced up the place with “Avocado” and “New Name.”
