Big up our friend Marc Ismail of SOUL OF ANBESSA for sending me a copy of his new 12″ featuring KC White, Shdleon Senior, Jah Bast & Ras Digby working out Ismail’s Abeng riddim. Recorded at Tuff Gong using a talented roster of musicians including Boris Gardiner, Dwight Pinkney, Derrick Stewart, Robbie Lyn, and Inyaki Yarritu.
Vintage style, recorded using live instruments, sounds very much like 1983-1985 recordings. Side B is a monster roots tune, extended to almost 11 minutes replete with AlmaJah Horns. This is a truly great record.
