So here is one of those vexing things.  I’m in my local record store picking up a special order of classic vinyl cuts, and I see a CD that catches the eye:  ‘BOB MARLEY LIVE.’  It was cheap so I picked it up thinking that it is the Lyceum show released by another label.  But on the back cover , it says “Recorded Live in Kingston from 1970-1971.”
No way!  The CD was released by Cleopatra Records on October 2, 2012.  It is being distributed by Sony/BMG.  I was very curious so I paid the $6.99 for it and left.  In my car, I throw the CD in the player.  I hear a live audience applause track, and then The Wailers break into “African Herbsman.”  The audio quality for an early 1970’s live recording is amazing.
TOO AMAZING…
It looks like they took 10 of The Wailers’ early hits, mixed them with an audience track, and released it as a live record!
Is there no dignity left in the record business?  I’ve lived through my share of horrible Marley bootlegs and represses, but this is just outright false advertising.
The disrespect shown this man since his departure is staggering…
