In the summer/fall of 1982, Jimmy Cliff joined Peter Tosh for several dates along the east coast and throughout the midwest. Based on the reviews shared here on MIDNIGHT RAVER BLOG, there were many problems with the tour, most of which revolved around late starts.
They played Toad’s Place on September 20, 1982, and if you believe the review from Frank Rizzo of the Hartford Courant, the show was an unmitigated disaster and an overall disappointment.
If the people only knew how lucky they were that night. Cliff and Tosh on the same bill….

Cliff sometimes gets a bad rap for being too “poppy” and presenting a somewhat watered down version of reggae. Let me say for the record that I have much love and respect for Jimmy Cliff. He kept the music alive when it was being read last rites by critics in the media. Ride on Jimmy, ride on….

thank you
My wife and I were at the early show. We remember how incredible the show was despite the lateness. We remember walking out the door after the show was over and looking at the soaking wet and very unhappy fans who had been waiting in the rain for hours. We commented on how glad we were that we had gone to the early show. Great memories. I’ve attended @ 950 rock shows in my life and this one stands out.
