Included here is Peter Tosh’s last published interview which was published in December 1987, just three months after his brutal murder. The interview was conducted by Maureen Sheridan for MUSICIAN MAGAZINE. It is somewhat ironic that Sting blesses the cover of this issue. You see The Police (a group heavily influenced by reggae) were one of the few groups that emerged in the late 1970s just as reggae began to lose its grip on the world. After the death of Bob Marley, Island Records briefly flirted with the idea that Black Uhuru would be the next great reggae act to take the world by storm. Chris Blackwell even arranged a massive European tour which featured Black Uhuru opening for The Police. Blackwell’s support of reggae was short lived though as Island Records completely divested in reggae by 1984, dropping Black Uhuru from the label and putting all of their money and marketing power behind a small emerging band from Dublin called U2. The rest, as they say, is history…

In addition to including a fascinating interview and detailed information about Peter’ assassination, the article also includes detailed information about the family infighting that occurred around his funeral.
