I have included a preview of Peter Tosh’s show at the Gaillard Municipal Auditorium in Charleston, South Crolina. This review is noteworthy for several reasons. First, this write-up was written by Bill Thompson and published on July 31, 1981 in the Charleston News and Courier. As you can see, the write-up references a Tosh show which is slated to occur the following night. There is no record of this show in any Peter Tosh Tour Dates listing that I could find.
The other interesting note is the mention in the 3rd paragraph of 4 backing bands, Word, Sound, and Power, Rolly Gray, Sunfire, Charles Erland, and Odyssey. Tosh had a virtual orchestra on stage that night!

The last pic is at the Grammy’s. (02/24/1987 LA Shrine Auditorium – Best Reggae Recording “No Nuclear War”)
nice!
Wonder if there are later photos of Peter on stage…

I remember seeing the flyers for this concert as a kid in charleston. This was the starting point of my love for reggae. I was so excited and curious to know what reggae was all about. I had no idea how big and monumental this was.
