Some 123 Jamaicans have been selected for national honours. According to the Chancery of the Orders of the Societies of Honour, the appointment of persons to the Orders of Societies of Honour took effect from yesterday, Independence Day. The 123 persons have been conferred with prestigious honours for their contributions in various sectors of society.
Among the list of honourees is reggae music legend, Winston Hubert ‘Peter Tosh’ McIntosh, who has posthumously been entered into the Order of Merit, in recognition of his seminal contribution to the evolution of popular music.
