Included here is my high quality upload of Israel Tafari by the Fatman Ridim Section (Inner Circle). An extremely rare vinyl record, it is actually the dub companion to Israel Vibration’s landmark debut LP The Same Song, which was produced by Tommy Cowan and released in Jamaica on his Top Ranking label in 1978. It was released the following year in the UK on the Harvest label.
Recorded at Channel One & Concert Studios in Jamaica, the players on The Same Song included:
Bass – Mikey Star, Phillip Fullwood, Robbie Shakespeare
Drums – Calvin McKenzie, Max Edwards, Sly Dunbar
Engineer [Recording] – Maxi, Paul Davidson, Paul Davidson
Mastered By – Paul Khouri
Organ – Ansel Collins, Youth Bubbler
Organ, Piano, Rhythm Guitar – Mikey Chung
Percussion – Sky Juice, Sydney Wolfe
Piano – Augustus Pablo, Robert Lyn
Producer – Tommy Cowan
Saxophone – Dean “Youth Sax” Frazer
Trombone – Nambo
Vocals – Apple, Skeleton, Wiss
The dub album Israel Tafari by the Fatman Ridim Section contains no credits at all. The titles are heavy dubs from songs on the Israel Vibration album The Same Song. The dubs are similar to the ones on the Israel Vibration CD Israel Dub on RAS Records RAS 3229. These dubs however have different titles and are much softer.
Also included here is a fascinating article on Israel Vibration by our good friend Vivien Goldman which appeared in the June 16, 1979 issue of Melody Maker.

Also included here is a rare feature on Israel Vibration from Jamaica’s Swing Magazine, August/September 1977.
