According to this press article published in Billboard Magazine on October 9, 1982, Peter Tosh and Jimmy Cliff played the Santa Barbara County Bowl during their late summer/early fall run. This is interesting information not only because I have never seen a 1982 date for the County Bowl, but also because, according to the article, the artists were captured with 8 different video cameras resulting in several documentaries on each artists, and at least one documentary on the tour!
I have never heard that there is video footage out there of Tosh and Cliff at the Santa Barbara County Bowl. Maybe the documentaries were never finished and the film just sits in a vault or closet somewhere. To all collectors: GET TO WORK! I know I will be following the leads given in the article.
If anyone out there has any information on this footage please shoot me an email at midnightraverblog@gmail.com.

Also included is a review of the Tosh/Cliff shows at the Hollywood Palladium on August 13 and 14, 1982 from Billboard Magazine, published August 16, 1982.

And finally, here are two photos I found (actually, someone emailed them to me). I’ve never seen them before but my friend Greg says they are from The Ritz in NYC. The photographer is David Plastik.

yeah very interesting thank you for all post comrade
According to http://www.sbbowl.com/performers.htm Peter did also show in 1983 at the Santa Barbara County Bowl (besides 1981 + 1982)
sorry, is already on the list…
And if you check the VH1 documentary, there’s “legalize it” from the same show than these pictures (The Ritz 1981 I guess), meaning…you know!
There’s also an interview from NYC in video from the same date appearing in VH1 documentary.
You know, I never picked up on that my friend. That’s right. Very good information.
I saw tosh and cliff together at the bowl in the 80’s, but I could swear it was the mama Africa tour, which was ’83? I will see if I can dig up the ticket stub
Yes, Peter and Jimmy did play at Santa Barbara Bowl in 1982. I have pics from backstage. Just saw this, while searching for dates.
