I liked the tune so much I named my blog after it. This has always been my favorite Wailers tune. Take equal parts apocalypse, Revelation, Armageddon, and add a likkle homosexuality, gender dysmorphia, rape, pillage, and plunder – mix it all together and “Stir It Up” – and you get “Midnight Ravers.”
Included in this mix is a live version from Chicago 1975 where the tune is performed dread and heavy. Also included is The Wailers’ performance of “Midnight Ravers” at Leeds Polytechnic 1973 – a performance as wild and raucous as Marley’s hair at the time.
