60 Minutes is a highly respected news program that plays on CBS television in the U.S. on Sunday evenings.  It has been a stable of Sunday evening television viewing for almost 40 years.

Bob Marley appears throughout this 1979 profile of the Rastafarian philosophy and way of life.  I am sharing this interview because I think it is a fascinating look at a way of life that is foreign to most people.  Admittedly, the profile is a biased, American interpretation of Rastafarians and tends to place way too much emphasis on ganja and violence.  And Dan Rather is an absolute boner, in my opinion.  That being said, I think you will find it interesting.  Enjoy!

I have also included the Australian version of 60 minutes for comparison.  This 1979 profile is produced by Australian “journalist” George Negus.

As you can see, although it is a different country and a different show, Rasta gets the same treatment.  A portrayal of ignorant, unemployed and poor blacks with crazy hair who spend all day getting high, running drugs, and killing people.
