Don Carlos “Declaration of Rights” (Dove)

So a little while ago I purchased the Don Carlos single “Them Say” on the Tamoki Wambesi Dove label.  I get it home and throw it on the player and I’m pleasantly surprised to hear an old Abyssinians tune titled “Declaration of Rights.”  While their tune is great, this one is felony murder by Mr. Carlos…especially the version on the flip side.  Whoa…go easy on this one.

This highlights an interesting fact regarding Jamaican vinyl:  a lot of it has been mislabeled, tons of it misspelled, and some just blank or unreadable.  But every now and then you come upon a great vocalist backed by a great band and you end up being incredibly thankful that you just landed Don Carlos singing “Declaration of Rights.”
