Several sources note that Peter Tosh visited Africa on several occasions between 1982 and 1983.  It is a known fact that he played at least two shows in Swaziland in December 1983 during the Mama Africa World Tour.
According to what I’ve read, Peter Tosh was in Nigeria in 1982 and he stayed at Sunny Okosuns house at Okba.  He returned to Naija in 1985 and stayed at EKo Hotel.  While there, he sought treatment from traditional African medicine men.
The included article, which was published in the Jamaica Gleaner on February 1, 1983 is a most interesting preview of the tour.  First, according to the article, Peter was scheduled to play the Rhythm and Blues Awards Show in Los Angeles, CA on February 6, 1983.  This event was filmed for television so I assume that if he played the show there must be video footage of it somewhere.  Anyone?
Second, the article previews tour dates in Zimbabwe, Kenya, Cameroon, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Zambia, and South America.  I had never heard that he played these shows, so I must assume that only the Swaziland shows went off.  Anyway, I’m going to do some digging on Africa, as well as Australia and New Zealand.
