“Anti-Apartheid” is a tune recorded in the summer of 1975 as part of the ‘Solomonic Reggae Star Peter Tosh’ project. Produced by Bunny Wailer and recorded at Aquarius by Karl Pitterson, this tune features the almost impossible talents of Peter Tosh as he not only plays guitar, but also plays the melodica.
In addition to Tosh, the single, which is basically the dub version of “Armagedon,” features the sharpest musicians in Jamaica.

“Anti-Apartheid”/”Solidarity”

Bunny Wailer: vocals, harmony vocal, repeater, funda
Peter Tosh: guitar and melodica
Carlton Barrett: drums
Aston Barrett: bass guitar, guitar
Earl “Chinna” Smith: guitar, Fratter guitar
Tyrone Downie: keyboards
H Butler: keyboards

These musicians, mostly poor, poorly schooled, and having never received a proper education in music composition, created one of the great musical compositions in history. Yet it was just another tune in a catalog of music produced by The Wailers, that in my opinion, has never been matched, and probably won’t be matched in my lifetime.
Good news! Both singles are featured on KAZO’s Bunny Wailer Black Vinyl Collection Vol. 1, which you can access HERE.
