My good friend Marco Virgona, owner of www.bobmarleymagazine.com, turned me on to a scandalous article by Carol Amaruso which involves the brutal beatings of Rastas by the Jamaican police force; the conversion of Rastas (including Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer, and Peter Tosh) to Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity; and the Rasta siege that destroyed The Black Lion Bakery.
Of all the stories and legends of read or heard involving Bob Marley, this may be one of the most intriguing, and one of the most under-reported.
Originally, the article was printed in DUB MISSIVE Magazine, and it is another one that could be relevant for the studies of Rastafari and Christianity. The article reveals very clearly, that Haile Selassie sent someone to Jamaica, one of his best students, to become Archbishop of the Ethiopian Church that was given unto Jamaica as a gift from His Majesty.
This all was related with the visit of His Majesty to Jamaica.
