An interesting article published in The Guardian on April 8, 2012. It speaks to what is perhaps Marley’s greatest regret according to his son, Ziggy Marley.
I have also included an extraordinary photo by Marley friend and former Wailer Lee Jaffe. Lately, Jaffe has been graciously sharing his rare photos from this period in his life with fans, historians, and archivists. Please visit Lee Jaffe’s website at www.leejaffe.com.

His greatest regret he wasn’t black? For me Bob was black. And white. And yellow. Red, brown. He was universal
I agree. It is a strange statement by Ziggy.
If I grew up in JA and was half white, I sure hope I would look more African than European cause you would experience some racism if you looked more white. I bet Bob got a little of that as a youth. I have experienced racism being a white guy in parts of Kingston, Montego bay, Paris, London, Los Angeles, and Oakland. mainly because I wanted to hear the music where white people don’t venture much. Shit I kind wish I was black sometimes, and red, and brown, and yellow, everything, just experience life in those terms.
Nice post Dub. I’ve never thought of Bob as anything other than black. Coolest black man to ever walk the proud land.
